Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Better Launch (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data. The Service is operated by an individual based in Spain, and this Policy is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is the individual operator of Better Launch, based in Spain. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact support@betterlaunch.lol.

2. What data we collect

• Account data: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google via our authentication provider, Supabase.
• Content you submit: startup name, description, domain, and logo; or sponsor name, description, link, and logo.
• Activity data: which startups you vote for and when, so we can enforce the daily vote limits and show your voting history to you.
• Payment data: if you buy a sponsor slot, Stripe processes your payment directly. We receive confirmation that payment succeeded and the amount paid, but we never receive or store your card details.
• Technical data: basic logs (such as IP address and timestamps) generated automatically by our hosting and database providers for security and abuse prevention.

3. Why we process your data (legal basis)

• Performance of a contract: creating your account, showing the leaderboard, recording votes, processing sponsor purchases.
• Legitimate interest: preventing abuse, fraud, and vote manipulation; keeping the Service secure.
• Legal obligation: keeping records required for tax and payment compliance related to sponsor purchases.

4. Who we share data with

We use the following processors to run the Service. Each only receives the data it needs to perform its function:

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, and realtime updates.
• Google — sign-in (OAuth), so we can verify your identity without handling passwords.
• Stripe — payment processing for sponsor slots.

We do not sell your personal data. Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States); where that happens, they do so under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account and submission data for as long as your account is active. Startup and vote records are kept even after a weekly ranking period ends, since they remain part of the historical record and are needed to enforce one-time domain submission and daily vote limits. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we must retain it to comply with a legal obligation (such as payment records).

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Request correction of inaccurate data;
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”);
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Request a portable copy of your data;
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@betterlaunch.lol. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or your local supervisory authority.

7. Cookies

We use only the essential cookies set by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

9. Security

We rely on our providers’ security measures (encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security on our database) to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
